The infrastructure push

India has achieved significant milestones in infrastructure development, including the inauguration of the world’s longest highway tunnel, the Atal Tunnel, Mumbai Trans harbour link the longest sea bridge in India, and the world’s 12th longest sea bridge. The construction of the world’s highest railway bridge, the Chenab Bridge & India’s first underwater transportation tunnel in Kolkata. Additionally, India has embarked on transformative projects like the Zojila Tunnel, Asia’s longest tunnel, for all-weather connectivity in Ladakh. Few more points for consideration:

  • India’s traffic industry is projected to grow at a CAGR of over 14.5% during 2024-2030.
  • The Government aims to construct 50,000 kms of access-controlled highways & 75,000 kms highways by 2037.
  • 100% Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) is allowed under the automatic route in the road and highways sector.
  • In the next five years, National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) will be able to generate INR 1 lakh crore (US$ 14.30 billion) annually from toll and other sources.
  • New contracts expected for construction of 20,000 km roads in the current fiscal 2024-25.
  • With the increasing urbanization and burgeoning population, traffic management solutions are in high demand across the nation.

Government policies & push for smooth mobility through better infrastructure will create ample opportunities for participation in the development by the private players and governments alike.

CConceptualized with the above backdrop, the Global Road Infratech Summit & Expo (GRIS) presents a platform for discussing key issues, identifying growth pathways, and providing the necessary boost to the industry.
